All good things must come to an end

I should have written this when we saw the last of Steve Nash for this season but I waited to write the eulogy on this NBA season until it actually got over. Quite predictably, the Spurs won. Detroit with its bunch of thugs could only defend but could not score. Spurs had great weapons...

1. Duncan- He is humility personified. He is so humble that if you watch a post match conference even after his team's victory by 20 points, he would be singing the praises of how well the opposition played.

2. Ginobli - The name wouldn't be out of place in the menu card of the Italian restaurant near your home but fate would have it associated with a basketball player. An unbelievable ball handler who proves that Argentinians are equally adept with handling the ball both with the feet and the hand.

3. Tony Parker - Did you know they played Basketball in France? I swear I di n't know until I saw Tony Parker. Until the end of 2003 season, I always mixed his name with the more famous Parker- Peter Parker. This guy can play and he can now take the Larry O Brien Trophy for company when he goes out with desperate housewife Eva Langoria.

4. Robert Horry - I used to hate him when he was with the Lakers. But I hated everybody associated with the Lakers from Jerry Buss to the team bus driver. He had some clutch three point shots and sealed the game.

Its party time in San Antonio and I know how the city vibrates after they win a majore championship. I wanted to relive the feeling this year in front of America West arena but it was not meant to be. But the suns will raise again like a Phoenix out of the ashes and annex the trophy next year. I would be there for the parade next year and maybe all good things won't come to an end....

Mr. and Mrs.Smith: Bad Marriage

I left the theatre fifteen minutes before close as I no longer could stand it. Mr and Mrs. Smith is the perfect example of an absolutely horrible movie. I think the lead pair lacked chemistry on screen although Angelina Jolie looked "hawt". Please go to the movie if you don't have air conditioning at home and want to sleep in the airconditioned theatre.

Reunions

Hey they are back together again. As a faithful, I just hope they do one last world tour. There are a very few bands in this world which can do shows better than Pink Floyd. Flying Pigs, hallucinating war victims, breaking walls....

If that union was good, how about the Zen Master coming back to coach his most troubled pupil , Kobe Bryant in the basketball crazy Los Angeles. Ouch, that is bad news for the Golden State Warriors and the Clippers as the Lakers might just move ahead of them for the last three places in the league.

I have a few words for Jackson in typical Floyd ishytle
"All in all you’re just another brick in the wall.
All in all you’re just another brick in the wall."

Almost coinciding with the Jackson rehire, Dilbert ran this comic strip

Marathoning Continues....

I was up at about 6:00 in the morning, trying to get ready for my weekday run at Rancho San Antonio park . In the buildup to the big day, we do two week day runs of about 3 to 4 miles each [ I am sure this will increase once I near Oct 9], long runs on Saturdays with increasing mileage every week [ I am supposed to do 7 miles this saturday] and tracks on tuesday to improve my speed.

It is really fun doing these runs in the Bay Area as we run in some of the most picturesque trails. Rancho San Antonio park in the mornings is really a bliss. I have spotted a few animals which I have not seen since my 3rd standard excursion to Vandaloor Zoo. :-)

Before every run, you are supposed to stretch your muscles so that they can stand the rigours of a long run. There are stretches for hamstrings, quads, ankles, achilles, shins etc but the one below is something new.....

so, will they call him pseudo nationalist

I wanted to stay out of this but I just cannot keep my head out. Wow, politicians change colors faster than chameleons. Advani called Jinnah a seculraist . Let me say it again if you did not hear me or believe me. Advani called Jinnah a secularist. A hardliner and one of the greatest believers in Hindutva said this in Pakistan. Was he afraid that they would kill him in Pakistan or was it his intention to appease the muslims? Whatever it was, I have to say in Goundamani style "Bultilayum Bulti idhu andhar bulti da saami" < In Simple English, What a fucking doubel act>

Holy Smokes

I have read from almost every blog that I visited this morning that smoking has been banned in Indian movies. Some blogs welcomed it and some condemned it. I did not want to be left out on the subject and hence thought I would weigh in my smart ass comments as well. As someone who has been pro choice on most issues like abortion, gay marriage etc, I think the Government is acting like a moral police by saying no cigarettes on screen. In terms of sheer stupidity, I would place this law right alongside Bajrang Dal supporters assaulting Valentine's Day observers and Shiv Sena chiding couples holding hands in public places.

I think Dr.Anbumani Ramadoss must spend his time on health issues that are more relevant rather trying to gather attention by sensationalism. If people in the Bay Area want to get his opinion on the cigratte smoking ban, here is a chance

KISS: Keep It Simple Stupid

"As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler; solitude will not be solitude, poverty will not be poverty, nor weakness weakness." said Henry David Thoreau and here I am realizing the deep meaning of these words after exactly 143 years and 12 days after the man kicked the bucket. But, yeah as all procastinators say "Better late than never".

I decided to scratch the surface of simple living by

1. re-embracing vegetarianism. Yeah, I am supposed to be a vegetarian by birth but hunger has broken stone walls, chicken legs, shrimp shells etc etc. I have decided to become a vegetarian again and hopefully this time I can keep it up.

2. Minimizing the use of paper.

I was reading an article written by sparun, a friend of mine, on simple living and it is the one that has made me think on those lines
